What it is

A concept poster presents an idea on one page, as a pitch: a name and tagline, who it is for and their problem, how it works, what changes for the person, what it will not do, what we need to believe, how we will test it and who sponsors it.

When to use it

When a sponsor or a group of users needs to react to the whole idea on one page.

When to skip it

Before an idea has been chosen. Use Idea Cards while the options are open.

How to run it

  1. 5 minAgree who will read the poster and what you need them to say.
  2. 25 minFill in each box in plain words.
  3. 10 minRead it as a stranger would. Cut anything they would not understand.

About 40 minutes of method time. Add ten to fifteen minutes to open and close the session.

What to watch for

A poster that sells and leaves out the limits. Technology language in place of what changes for the person.

The AI lens

Include a box for what the AI solution will not do. It builds trust and sets limits early.

What you leave with

A one-page pitch of the idea that people can react to.

An example

A poster for an AI assistant that helps service agents lists, in plain words, that it will not issue refunds or give legal advice. People react to the poster and say what is missing.

How it compares

A Concept Poster summarises the whole idea for reaction. A Storyboard walks through one situation in detail.
