What it is
Value and feasibility placement sorts ideas onto a two-by-two grid. One axis is how much value the idea could deliver, the other is how hard it is to do. The quadrants separate quick wins, worthwhile plans, low-value easy options and ideas to drop.
When to use it
When there is a shortlist of four to twelve ideas and the group needs to see which are worth planning first.
When to skip it
When the ideas are not yet comparable. Write Idea Cards first.
How to run it
- 5 minAgree what value and feasibility mean here, using the success criteria.
- 15 minPlace each card on the grid, one at a time, with the group agreeing each position.
- 10 minChallenge the placements. Move any card nobody can defend.
About 30 minutes of method time. Add ten to fifteen minutes to open and close the session.
What to watch for
Value claimed with no evidence. Feasibility judged only on the technology.
The AI lens
Count data access, approvals and people’s willingness in feasibility, not only whether the technology exists.
What you leave with
Ideas placed on the grid, with a clear set to take forward.
An example
Ten ideas for an operations team are placed on the grid. Four land in 'worth planning', two are quick wins to start next month, and four are parked with a note on what would change the answer.
